Regarding the Recent Earthquake and Tsunami

All praise is due to Allah, and may He mention His Messenger Muhammad ( صلى الله عليه وسلم ).

We ask our Lord, who answers the supplication of His worshippers, to forgive our brothers and sisters whose lives were taken in the recent earthquake and tsunami which struck in Asia, from Sri Lanka, Thailand, Indonesia, India, and all of those Muslims in the surrounding areas, and we ask Him to exalt their rank in Paradise

We ask our Lord, the Mighty and Sublime, to reward those of our brothers and sisters, whose lives were spared, but devastated, and to bring them what is better than what they lost.

We ask our Lord, Allah the almighty, our Protector, to protect us, to grant us safety in this world and the next, to strengthen our faith, and to make us act according to what pleases Him, not what will earn us His wrath.

We ask Allah, the Witness, to grant martyrdom to our brothers and sisters who drowned in the tsunami that struck them.

The Prophet ( صلى الله عليه وسلم ) said: “Five are the martyrs….and the one who drowned.” (al-Bukhari no. 653, Muslim 1914, and others).

O Allah! Our Lord! Forgive them, exalt their rank, grant them the station of the martyrs! O Allah! Our Lord! Forgive us, and make us among those with whom you are pleased.

Indeed Allah’s is the praise, and may He mention His Last Messenger, Muhammad ( صلى الله عليه وسلم )
